Summary: First of all: the location is excellent in the middle of the woods, very quiet, with a 5 minute drive away from the village with shops / restaurants. All kind of hikes start at the front door of the house ... The house is nice, clean and big with multiple terraces and a giant garden, and the facilities are adequate, but ... - contrary to the information on the vrbo website the house has 6 bedrooms, and not 7, and one of the bedrooms has a single bed (not kingsize): this made it very hard for us to assign the rooms/beds to the members of our party as we planned ahead, and the final solution we found was far from ideal ... - there is only one big and one small bathroom (with bath and/or shower), and one toilet on the ground floor, there are some facilities in the basement, but they seemed not to function, moreover the basement is not a very pleasant place to be (a nasty smell) - the kitchen is well equipped, but not very big - there is camera survaillance outside the house (apparantly to check the actual number of guests), this should be mentioned on the website, or at least at the time of booking (it was only mentioned just 2 days before our stay at the house) - communication with the agent left very much to be desired: * I booked the house on the vrbo website, chose the dates (Easter weekend) and got a price quote on the website which was high but ok with me, and so I booked. Then I received a mail from the agent with a much higher pice, saying he applied a 40% surcharge for holidays as described on the website ... it is not described (and still is not). After I objected he reduced the price, but I still paid significantly more then the price on the website. * shortly before leaving we received the 'house rules': these do not really reflect a sense of hospitality. More specific the rules are vague and the determination whether they are violated is very subjective, and the measures ('punishment') for violation of the rules are not realistic or in perspective. * one of the rules was very strong on waste separation (again with a unrealistic penalty when broken): 2 of the 3 outside big bins were filled to the lid , and inside there was no way to know how (information / instruction) or where to separate waste * we were asked to call / whatsapp half an hour before arrival and an hour before leaving: on both occasions the agent was not reachable because his cell phone was switched off (he knew he could expect a call / whatsapp around that time)
