Welcome to your home away from home! This guest house private, with its own entrance, and is attached to a main house. It sleeps 4, with 2 in the queen bed, 1 on an air mattress and 1 on a Lucid folding mattress. We provide WiFi, toiletries, linens & towels, clothes iron, hair dryer, full kitchen, beach essentials, coffee & tea. Watch waterfowl while sitting by the serene backyard creek, or go on an adventure to Folly or downtown.
Centrally located for your beach getaway, or business trip. James Island is close to everything, and very easy to get to.
In addition to the bedroom, full bath, full kitchen, and living room, our backyard is a wonderful place to hang out. We have large picnic table, a gas grill, a hot tub, a large garden, and a fire pit. So much to enjoy as you are waterfront. You are even welcome to fish in the waterway (catch & release), or use our canoe for a jaunt down the estuary. Please note: our backyard is shared with other guests.
We have a smart TV with many apps to enjoy.
We can only accommodate two guest vehicles. We give you a code to enter on the keypad a few days before you arrive. You can check in anytime after 4pm. We charge a $50 early check-in/late check-out fee, and can only guarantee we can accommodate it on the day of arrival/check out.
We live locally and are available to address any issues that may arise during your stay or to answer any questions.
No smoking, drugs, or parties.
There is a creek behind the house. If you let your children into the backyard, please be aware that the creek is attached, and be water safe.
We have some laying hens, whom you may see free ranging around the backyard.
We provide a bag of beach essentials, which includes beach towels, beach chairs (4), and sunscreen, which you are welcome to use during your stay. Does not include snorkeling gear.
We are centrally located on James Island, about 10 minutes from Downtown Charleston, 15 to Folly Beach, close to historical landmarks, restaurants, museums, and tons of fun things to do. The closest beach is about five minutes down the road. We are close to shops, museums, restaurants, and entertainment. There is a grocery store one block away (with a Starbucks inside).
One thing to note: We are on a busy street. Please do not book if being on a busy street will bother you, as there is nothing we can do to change this, and bad reviews are unfair based on our location. Most of our negative reviews have been because of the busy street, which we cannot control. All we can do is be very clear about it, and request that because our guests know this before booking, that they do not leave a negative review based on something we cannot control or change. Thank you for your understanding with this. Most of our guests have given us glowing reviews "The best place I've stayed in for my entire 3,000 mile road trip," etc. You will love our place, including our peaceful and serene backyard. But if busy streets are an issue, please don't book our place.
Uber or Lyft are your best bet if you don’t bring a vehicle. It is a short Uber ride to downtown. Feel free to use our grass to turn your car around on. Being on a busy street, it’s easier to pull onto the street when facing forward.
The cleaning fee is based on a "courteous guest". Any excessive dirtiness or neglect will accrue an additional $95 fee.
