Summary: Good location in town, nice breakfast. Had a few little issues while we were there which staff did their best to sort. Rooms in need of deep clean especially very dusty curtains! Be aware there is limited parking so you will have to pay for the public car park nearby. Our room was up several flights of stairs with no lift and no help with heavy luggage offered.

Summary: Apart from the bedroom and en-suite being dated it’s a really nice hotel. The guys had an emergency over night and the gas had to be cut off to the kitchen, so no hot breakfast. Not their fault at all and they put on an amazing spread for a continental breakfast like I’d never seen before. So well done to them. The gas engineer arrived as I was leaving. Staff were fantastic.

Summary: Staff was very friendly and eaay to talk to, bed was comfortable. Room was a good size with all the necessary amenities. Bathroom was big, shower was great. Gorgeous building.
The highlight was the afternoon tea, whoever made those scones and desserts deserve a raise!
Downsides, the staff weren't wearing indicators of being staff (like a name tag), so it was sometimes hard to know where to turn. We had a lightbulb not working (though this was promptly fixed once we let reception know), and our room hadn't been dusted properly, there were thick layers of dust on our bed lamps (small thing though!)
Overall, a very satisfying stay with only minor, almost inconsequential issues.

Summary: I recently stayed at The Bell Hotel in Sandwich for my 40th birthday, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm and welcoming, perfectly complementing the character and charm of this historic riverside hotel.
The food was absolutely excellent—each meal was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the menu had a thoughtful variety of options, and everything we tried was delicious. It’s clear the kitchen takes real pride in their work.
The location was ideal for our trip, especially as we were in town to play at the legendary Royal St George’s Golf Club, which is just a short drive away. After a day on the course, The Bell was the perfect place to unwind—comfortable, stylish, and relaxing. The rooms had a classic charm with modern touches, and the views over the river added a tranquil feel to the whole stay.
Celebrating a milestone birthday in such a setting, with great food and access to world-class golf, made the experience truly memorable. I’d highly recommend The Bell Hotel to anyone visiting the area, whether for golf, history, or just a peaceful escape.

Summary: Check in was great. Managed to park right outside the door. Room was ok. Only real complain was the en-suite. Dated and the shower valve very worn and difficult to set a good temperature. Over all would stay again.
