The Stables is a stunning ‘home from home’ barn conversion, perfectly positioned in a rural setting just off the Atlantic Highway in beautiful North Cornwall. We like to say it’s ‘close to the action, but away from the crush’. On the edge of the moors, only a few miles from the nearest beach and with many of Cornwall’s main resorts and major attractions within easy reach, The Stables is an ideal base for a holiday. The house is in a small courtyard development set securely behind electronic gates and offers secure off-street parking for 2 cars. The open plan living area and the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and outside there are two gardens in which to relax and hopefully catch some sun or have a barbecue. Speaking of the sun, some amazing sunsets can be viewed from the living room windows. And after the sun goes down, on a clear night you may be treated to a beautiful starry display, as there is very little light pollution. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped and there is a wood-burning stove to create a cosy evening indoors or to supplement the efficient underfloor heating if needed. There is a separate utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, so it’s easy to get the laundry done, even if it’s not drying weather! It’s very peaceful and the blackout blinds in the bedrooms also help with getting a great night’s sleep. In the mornings, you may wake up to the sound of our favourite neighbours - sheep, cows and birds - starting their day, or the odd tractor rumbling by. For babies and young children we provide a travel cot (bring your own bedding) and high chair. There is a small selection of toys and books in the house and some games for the garden or beach. While a car is necessary for most trips, if you want to head out on foot, a short walk from the house takes you down the lane to the River Inny or over the fields towards the moors. If you’re feeling a bit more energetic, you can walk up through Tremail village to the disused airfield at Davidstow, where horses, sheep, and cattle graze freely, or continue across Davidstow Moor towards Crowdy Reservoir, which is a great spot for birdwatching. You could also visit the Cornwall at War museum in Davidstow. If you like to cycle, we are right on a National Cycle Route, so off you go! It’s just a short drive to the wild and mysterious Bodmin Moor, with its landmark hills of Roughtor and Brown Willy and historic standing stones. Heading instead towards the coast, the nearest beaches of Trebarwith Strand and Crackington Haven, Tintagel with its historic castle and the town of Boscastle are only around 15 - 20 minutes’ drive, with the popular surfing spots of Widemouth Bay and Bude a little further up the Atlantic Highway (A39) to the north. Heading south, a shortish drive will take you to the picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac or the upmarket resorts of Rock and Padstow. Slightly further afield is the lively and popular resort of Newquay, with lots of family attractions. You will find some tourist leaflets, maps and guides in the house for your use.
