If you would like to see some local wildlife, you can take a boat trip from the pier and out to Coquet Island, known for its abundance of seabirds, especially in summer. If you would like to travel a little further afield, Warkworth castle and its picturesque village is just a short drive away, where you can find an art gallery, some little shops and the beach! Other places nearby definitely worth a visit are Alnmouth, Seahouses and Bamburgh.
