This stunning apartment sits within a grade 2 listed building which has been sympathetically renovated and manages to preserve the integrity of the wonderful original features whilst adding some modern, eclectic touches.

Being the birthplace of Joseph Rowntree the building is adorned with old photographs and artefacts that give you a real sense of the history of the building.

Superbly positioned just opposite ‘The Shambles', you really couldn't be closer to all that the city has to offer. That being said the apartment has a great balance of being a quiet retreat away from any street noise.

Upon entering you will find a well presented kitchen equipped with all the amenities you'd expect to find, such as a dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine. There is also a dining area to accommodate 2.

The lounge is equipped with a very comfortable sofa and separate chair. There is also the striking original feature here of the old stove. Certainly something you won't see in your typical city centre property!

The master bedroom is spacious and accommodates a double bed, wardrobe and dressing table. The bathroom of the property comes with a bath with shower over.

Summary: The location of this apartment can’t be beat - just steps to The Shambles, and a brief walk to the Minster, Jorvik museum, and all the other major sights within the York city walls. The entrance is tucked inside Lady Peckett’s Yard, one of those little snicket alleyways that’s on the ghost tours and such. The apartment itself is gorgeous and well-appointed, with soaring ceilings and loads of natural light. I was glad to find a small washer/dryer unit in the kitchen, because the listing (at that time) didn’t say whether or not there would be one. Be aware that there’s no lift and the stairs are fairly steep — the apartment is on the first floor, but due to high ceilings in the building it’s really more like two flights of stairs. There was one maintenance issue on arrival, but it was promptly and satisfactorily resolved. Otherwise, everything about the stay was lovely.
