Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The accommodation was good and as presented in the marketing photos with good quality linen, sheets and towels and good general facilities. The garden was well kept and nice to enjoy the Summer weather. The Wi-Fi was good and access to Sky TV a benefit. The location was good to use as a base with easy road links into the country and to the coast with the Metro being in walking distance to take advantage of good regular travel into Newcastle and beyond. There were several local pubs/ restaurants within walking distance. Supermarkets were nearby. A good base.

Negative: Whilst we chose not to eat in, the kitchen equipment and crockery was disappointing. The Airfryer was disgustingly dirty and had the residue of food left in it. The oven equipment was not adequately cleaned with 2 items so bad that in our opinion need to be replaced. The bottom of the bread bin looked as if someone had tried to cook in it and certainly as a minimum needed a good clean. With Crockery, there only seemed to be a provision for 4 people which for us wasn’t a problem, however with 3 double bedrooms perhaps a provision for 6 people should be the case. There were only 4 mugs with only 3 matching and 6 saucers but no cups. We had several other observations which we raised with Host and Stay straight after we had departed and quickly received an acknowledgment that they would review our observations, however after several follow ups we are still to get a satisfactory response. All of our observations had accompanying photos to support our observations. A great shame as the accommodation was good but let down by some of the kitchen equipment and its cleanliness.

Summary: A very good stay but the edge taken off it by the Kitchen equipment.
